Using the medieval book of hours as a point of departure, I treated 24 offset printing plates with a custom-mixed substance, which accepted ink in surprising ways, creating analog images that “developed” through the process of printing. Each of the 24 prepared plates were used to print a press sheet, which was then folded down to create a 16-page signature in the finished book. A multitude of bookmark ribbons offer a changing physical element to the combined abstract imagery and printed images of ribbons.
