Silk thread, linen
22 x 22 in. (each)
A suite of five textiles commissioned for Portland State University’s Vanport Building permanent collection. The densely hand-stitched forms at the center of each work reflect on different kinds of attention, or energy, and adhere to a palette drawn from the natural world—forests, fields, coastal areas.
SEEING THINGS
Permanent collection at Multnomah County Central Courthouse, Portland, OR
(Collection managed by Regional Arts & Culture Council)
17th floor
Seeing Things grew out of thoughts about vision—literal and metaphorical. Each work was made by submerging linen in water, wringing it out, and flooding it with a spectrum of blue inks and dyes, always emanating from the center—a meditative embodiment of cycles of saturation and evaporation.

Ink, cotton cord, steel rod
A wall-mounted sculptural installation made of wide-gauge, ink-soaked cotton cord. The installation process is intuitive and performative: I position sections of looped, twisted cord until the composition feels coherent and alive.
